1.8 Crashes on Account Setup in Preferences or when picking a publication option

First off, I am unable to select FTP or Folder publication options for a site in 1.8 FC without first setting up an EverWeb account within the preferences. Second, when I go ahead and try to sign into my account in EverWeb preferences, I frequently get a crash. Further, if by some miraculous means I get past this, and then actually can select from the dropdown other publication options, I then hit a crash when I, for example, click FTP.
