FavIcon not found ?

User: Peter B. 11 years ago
Hi

I just tried to add a favicon.ico
EW adds this to the External Files

In the source code it refers to :

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="////favicon.ico" />

How is any browser going to find it ?

This would be the same issue as your other post. When you publish using EverWeb to your EverWeb + Hosting account, or to your FTP server, the proper URL is used.

Sorry Paul,

It's not published to a folder but straight onto the net. Live site ( www.rgblaserbv.nl )

Have a look yourself

Thanks Roddy for the info, but as the software now has the option to add a picture as a favicon.ico , it should also handle the link properly.

So I should not have to enter :

<link rel="icon" type="image/ico" href="{!-ASSETSPATH-!}External%20Files/favicon.ico">

myself, the software has to set the link correctly. More then that, ideally, it should take the picture I give it and adjust it to the properties needed to create the favicon.ico .

As the software spits out :

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="////favicon.ico" />

there remains a bug in the software and ...no Paul...this is not related ( I think ) to the other issue. Especially as rowdy points out the Assethpath variable needs to be added or the software should automatically add the .ICO to the root of the website, but even then, the link is incorrect as it is now.
