Dumb questions about Everweb's convert a site to mobile feature.

Is it just a narrower template? Or does it covert clickable links to tool tips (if that is the correct term for links that are activated on touch screens?

Don't Internet providers automatically redirect users to mobile sites?

I'm about to build my first site that needs to work on phones and tablets, and I'm learning, but I thought I'd learn the most about Everweb's features first (to make it easier on myself!) Is there an Everweb Codebox shortcut?

Thanks, y'all. Best from Texas.

EverWeb creates a narrow page for smart phone users. The main site has to have a redirect so that phone users are sent to the correct version. The browser will not do this.

Tablet users will be sent to the wider version of the site which is why I would recommend not making it any wider than about 800px and making sure that there are no text hyperlinks or any items that use hovers since these are not supported on mobile devices.

Unless you make a third version for tablet users, it is better to design the full site for them too and make sure all the user inputs are at least 30px square. The number of computer users is falling and those using mobile devices rising so the days of 980px wide and above sites are numbered.

There are no shortcuts to creating a mobile version - or versions - of a site. They need to be design differently. There are some hints about all this in the Mobile section of the Codebox site.

Mobile websites need a different type of navigation and use CTAs instead of text links. The trend in mobile design is to use icons for user inputs and the icon widgets will do that thing.

Thank you, Roddy! You're a goldmine. Will read up on your site.

Quickly--what is CTA, please?

I'm trying to get a basic question answered, too, first: In Everweb, when you create a mobile version, it doesn't grab the content from your regular page, does it? It's just a template that you have to fill in again, right?

Thank you!

You have to create a separate site for smart phone users, It requires a different mind set than a conventional one.

A CTA is a call to action.
