Hyperlinking breaks between text and symbol

I've tried hyperlinking this: "⬅︎ Go Back". Even if it's all selected, the result is that only the arrow or only the text are linked at one time. They both respond correctly but not in unison. Here's a weblink. If I don't hear back on this soon, I might just insert an html snippet.

You need to put both the arrow and the text into the same container and create the container as the hyperlink.

It's not the "all is selected" that is the problem. To use a new line that does not create a new paragraph, use Shift-Return. Also called a soft return. It's as old as a word processor. http://www.google.com/search?q=soft+return |

Hmm. It's not supposed to be a new line. I added the arrow from special characters then simply wrote beside it.

No, it's not a new line. I don't know where you get your arrow from, but I suspect it's a double-byte character. Add the keyboard and character viewer to the menu (it's in the system preferences) and choose an arrow from there. Add a textbox and add the arrow and type the text. Then select both the arrow and the text and make it a hyperlink. Personally I don't like manuals on a webpage to tell what I can do. A back arrow when there's nothing to go back to is rather pointless. I use Command-Left-Arrow. Let the visitor figure out where to go. |

A back arrow when there's nothing to go back to is rather pointless. I use Command-Left-Arrow. Let the visitor figure out where to go. This is exactly what I did and it didn't work. That's why I reported it as a bug. I had this problem in the past once as well where words would get separated even though they were added on the same line and selected together for hyperlinking. Not that I need to explain myself, but there are instances where a back arrow is helpful. And this one isn't pointless, it takes the user back to the movie page where, in most cases, I'm going to assume they're coming from. And while you might use command-left-arrow, not every web surfer is that sophisticated. ------------------------------- rMBP 15", 2.6 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, OS X 10.11.6, with 27" Thunderbolt Cinema Display www.cleetche.com |
