Frustrating behavior of fonts

On every computer application I've ever used, when I insert a word into a sentence, it keeps the same font that the sentence is already in. I cannot get EverWeb to do this, at least not very often. Instead, what it's doing is that whatever font happens to be in the font box, it switches the font to that one. Or sometimes not even that. Sometimes, it seems to revert to some previously used font that is neither in the font box nor in the current line. This is driving me crazy! Example: The original sentence is, "The dog bit me." I want to make the sentence, "The angry dog bit me." So, I put my cursor in between "the" and "dog" and type "angry." But instead of "angry" coming out in the same font as the rest of the sentence, it either chooses the font that is currently listed in the font box (from some earlier operation I was doing), or worse, chooses some other random font I had previously used, such as a larger, bolded version. Please look into this and find a way to tame the fonts in this program so they act like a normal program. Or if there's some magic trick to make it behave normally, please let me know. |

Hmm I tried to test what you described. When I click within any text the Font Panel updates to the Font that is currently being used in the text object. So when I start typing, the font being used is the current font in the text object. What version of EverWeb are you using? Can you make sure you have the latest version? ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

| I had 1.7, updated to 1.7.3, same problem. I have a screen video I can show you if it will help. Let me know how to get it to you. | |

| Did you get my video? This problem is still driving me crazy, and causes very frequent ranting at the software for acting in this bizarre way. | |

| Are you writing in a different program and then copy/paste to your EW page? I have had problems with fonts in past and traced it to writing in a different program and when I copy/paste to EW something went wrong and I ended up with formatting errors in a text box (different spacing on different lines, different font sizes, etc). I started to copy over smaller chunks of text and the problems went away. | |

| No, but in a single text box I have multiple fonts. On line 1, I have a title that is Arial 20 bold. On line 2, I have a subtitle that is Arial 15 bold. On line 3, I begin some technical information that is in Arial 12 normal. Then I have a paragraph in Verdana 15 normal. The material is from a duplicated page in Everweb. So for example, first I want to change the text in line 1 (Arial 20 bold). In line 2 (Arial 15 bold), I don't need to change the whole line but just some letters. When I highlight the part I want to change and type in the replacement, instead of typing in Arial 15 bold like the rest of the line, it wants to type in Arial 20 bold. Also, frequently I want to make changes in the paragraph (Verdana 15 normal) after making some changes in the technical information (Arial 12 normal). It keeps wanting to put the paragraph changes in Arial 12 normal instead of Verdana 15 normal. In other words, instead of acting like every other software program I've used and keeping the same font of the surrounding area, instead Everweb wants to use whatever font was last used. This is really annoying! It's driving me crazy because I have to keep manually going to the font section of the inspector and changing the font manually! I'd really like to have a solution for this. | |
