Logged in but not publishing to ftp

User: Andrew B. 11 years ago
I am experiencing problems publishing to ftp.

When i click to publish my site ever web says that it is connecting to my server and then that i am "logged in". However the loading bar at the bottom remains empty and the site does not publish.

I didn't have this problem in the past and successfully published my site using the same details i am using now, so i don't understand what has changed. The only notable change to my computer since this problem started was that in safari i removed all cookies and website data. (to undo a problem caused by publishing my site using secure publishing)

I have tried to publish to a sub directory but that doesn't work either, though in the file manager of my server (one.com) the name of the sub directory appeared, though it was empty as the pages of my site didn't publish.

My ftp details are definitely correct and i have had the same problem with two different sets of ftp details.

I am at a loss as to what to do. I have deleted ever web completely and reinstalled it, i have updated my mac to run yosemite, i have tried with secure publishing on and off... but nothing seems to help. I get logged in, but the site doesn't publish. It is not a big site and in the past publishing took less than 5 minutes.

I would be very grateful for any help to resolve this problem. I don't know if there are any setting related to my computer which need changing, because my ftp details are not the problem as i get logged in to my server but the site just won't publish!

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

hi thanks for the quick reply. i don't think my problem is the same because i published using the same internet connection in the past. so i don't believe it is due to the speed of my internet

I was referring to this…
Quote:
unchecking the secure publishing tag in the publishing window.

You can open your console to see if there are any error messages. Enter console into spotlight and look for the lines that start with EverWeb

You should also email your web hosting provider and make sure they have all passive ports opened. That could most likely be the issues.

Hi Roddy and Paul, thank you both for your responses.

Roddy, I have tried publishing both with and without secure publishing, but the problem remains the same.

Paul, I have spoken to one.com and they have told me that all the ports are open for access.

I have looked in the console for error messages. there are a lot of ever web messages. At the moment my Everweb account is pending and not active. When it becomes active I will try to publish the site again, and if you agree, i will post the messages from the console. Paul, should i paste the messages from the console into this link or should i contact you in another way?
