The widgets panel is a slight improvement in that the widget names can return to a second line but some of them are being cut off because the panel isn't wide enough. Example would be "Image Galler" and "Facebook Lik". The assets lists box and associated boxes for captions etc don't fit the narrower widget settings panel. Strange, it is working for me. Are you on a non-retina computer? Do you mind posting a screenshot of what you see.

I'm using a non retina iMac. Here you can see that there is more than enough room on the left side and not enough on the right.  This is a screenshot of the Gallery widget shows how the boxes and some controls are too wide. I have reduced the control width in over 200 of my own widgets but I cannot reduce the width of the boxes for slideshow assets.

Okay, so the issue is that the scrollbar for you is always visible so it's getting cut off for you. For me, the scrollbar isn't always there so I wasn't able to see it. Will fix this.

It depends on the number of widgets you have installed. If you have more than about 30, the scrollbar is there all the time.
