Authentication in contact us form

How can I add an authentication box in the contact us form? The one that I see when I visit websites and I am asked to type in a box what I see above that box, and it's usually a set of numbers or gibberish letters with mixed upper and lower cases. This is done to prevent automated visitors, and to make sure that it's a human being that's visiting. So, if it is doable in Everweb, how can I add this feature? Thanks, Nerses |

This is called CAPTCHA - (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) CAPTCHA is rather outdated so, if you really want it, you should take a look at reCAPTCHA or sweetCaptcha... http://www.google.com/recaptcha/intro/ http://sweetcaptcha.com Before you even think about it you should ask yourself why you are considering adding it to a contact form. Do you get multiple form submissions per day? Are more than 10% of these spam? Have you offered your website visitors a strong enough incentive to fill out the form and waste their time solving the Captcha puzzle? You also need to take a look at why the major form services discourage its use. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | I have not looked into it yet; but was wondering if something could be done to filter it. Something like having a line that says 'If you are human leave this blank' and having ones that are filled out go to trash. | |

The first part of this article explains how to implement the "blank URL" field in a form… http://nfriedly.com/techblog/2009/11/how-to-build-a-spam-free-contact-forms-without-captchas/ ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
