Viewing Who is browsing?

Who is browsing?

User: Adam H. 11 years ago
My site has several videos. The widget suggests that there need to be 3 copies of each video to be optimized for different browsers.

Rather than have "buttons" for each browser, is it possible for Everweb to determine which browser is accessing the web site, and automatically direct to the page optimized for the particular browser?

Thanks,

It was my understanding that the video needed for that particular browser would be selected for use, as long as they are uploaded, similar to using @2x with images.

For HTML5 playback in the various browsers you need to upload an MP4, WebM and OGG. The browsers will choose which one.

You can just use an MP4 file if you use a widget like this…

http://everwebcodebox.com/widgetbox/media/mp4.html

… which has flash fallback for older browsers and allows the use of a poster image. Or this one…

Thank you both for your input. I don't know HTML coding, so "@2x" does not mean much to me.

I have no problem loading the three versions of the movie, but does Everweb know which to pick? When I drag a movie onto the widget, do I need to drag all three?

I just would rather not generate 3 web pages one each for different browsers for each movie that I have on the site.

Import the movie in the various formats by dragging them into the Assets list. Then select then using the buttons in the Widget Settings panel.

You are not creating three web page - or three movies for that matter. All three video files are uploaded to the server and the browser that the visitor is using will choose which video file type to play.

When you upload images to EW you can upload a second set of images that are higher resolution & label those at @2x so EW can choose the better one for Retina display devices
