Add " subject" field to contact form

Even in it's current very limited state, the contact form is the only option we have to add some form of interaction to the sites. The form uses PHP scripting which would allow more flexibility and form processing. As it is right now, the form widget allows you to alter the settings on the field labels and even alter the message to the posting person. Yet all forms - sometimes you need more then one - use the same subject. This is hardcoded into the widget which I feel is limiting it's use next to the fact that hardcoding text into any program is just not-done and dumb. So please at least add a field where we can set the subject to use so we can filter such messages when they come into our mailboxes. Peter |

Hey Roddy, That's actually pretty close indeed. Has the wanted extra field. The file changes are a nice addition as well. Now if you can just add an option to add more text fields, you're in business ;) |

I don't want to go creating a contact form widget for general distribution because this one was created by the EverWeb developers. I was only trying out the idea of adding a function for the subject line because this is a really good idea. I also think the styles for the form could be a little more basic - without all these box shadows - and some user styling options added for a fieldset with legend and perhaps the focus rings. I prefer a much more basic style of form like the one on THIS page. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Roddy, Adding the subject field is almost mandatory for any web form ;) As for the styles of the fields. That should stay in line with the rest of the website. I like the HTML5 design though, the ability to use rounded corners is nice as well. Still some may want to use shadows, others may not, so I would suggest to make shadows a tick-box behind each field to allow users to choose if thy want to use that or not. Choice is the gravy of life ;) Peter |

While EverWeb has made great strides over the past few months, and Roddy's Widgets are gangbusters - EverWeb is going to be a work in progress for a while. Google will pull up many company's that offer forms to insert in the site. I use WUFOO and it does everything I want. Too much sometimes. The free version is enough to handle a couple of forms and the pay version is almost unlimited. Take a look at one of my client's mailing list form: (http://www.rhsclassof69.com/mailing-list.html) It's hosted by WUFOO and took 15 minutes to design. It comes with reports, branching logic, you name it. I spend $9.95 a month to populate forms on 9 sites. It's a good deal and no, I don't work for them. Just a satisfied customer. ------------------------------- MrCourtney - Honolulu, HI -------------------------------------- Mac Studio - dial monitors; iMac 27 5K - Dual Monitors - 10 TB hub Alienware: Area 51 - 24 gb - Dual Monitors - All SSD 25 TB network storage |
