I have 3 domains. I am working on 3 websites. 1 is history & events where I live & will have blog type writing added regularly. There is nobody in this space but me. I have a great memorable name. 1 is directions to a popular place in my city, with many routes to take & things to see along the different routes. There is nobody in this space but me (and google maps without other things to see. 1 is pet accoutrements. Very busy space, but I have a great memorable name. For the first 2 sites, I was planning on publishing as I finish pages. For the third, it will be fully fleshed out with every SEO convention I can without over-doing it. My question for any that wish to answer is this: Do you think I need to initially work as hard on the first 2 sites as I am on the third site? With the first 2 sites, I am not planning on monetizing for awhile (4-6 months from launch). What are the difficulties with putting out a site in pieces, as far as rankings go? |

If you are marketing a product or a service, the goal with SEO is to get visitors to the site. After that, there needs to be an incentive - and a reason - to keep them coming back. The easiest way to encourage repeat visits is to send out emails announcing new additions to the site. To do this you need to provide an incentive for first time visitors to fill in the contact/signup form and create a database. When you add new content to a site and submit an updated sitemap.xml to the search engines they will crawl the site again. When you send out emails/newsletters the customers will revisit. Interesting and relevant text content is what gets visitors to the site. Regularly adding new content builds on this and is essential to the website's success. A static website with no new material being added is like a 6 month old newspaper. A lot of small businesses think that they need an internet presence and commission a 6 to 12 page site and that's it. These sites just sit there "gathering dust" because they are not getting new or revised content. A website is never finished - until it is dead in the water and needs to be deleted! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
