Use movie files or slideshows from iPhoto for video

User: Linda R. 11 years ago
I want to use videos from my iPhoto slideshows or video clips imported to iPhoto from my camera but iPhoto version 9.5.1 doesn't give export options for WebM and OGG video as needed for the EW video widget. Is there another solution?

You can use a freeware app like Miro Video Converter. It's lisedt on this page of useful apps to use with EverWeb…

Alternatively, you can use either of these widgets which only required an MP4 file…

I used the video-js and published to a test site (below). The video on the "3 weeks old" page works, but those on the 4 and 5 week pages look like they are loading but nothing happens. The video files were bigger on those pages. Is that the problem and if so is there any way to reduce the size of an m4v file?

The file you have referenced for that video is in your Mac - not on the server…

file://localhost/Users/rice/Library/Application%20Support/EverWeb/23A6CB935B8A4A58B5F99A7A6EADBE1C.everweb/Assets/External%20Files/Ellie//file's%202014%20Pups%20-%205%20weeks-SD%20(480p).m4v

You should also use .mp4 - not .m4v and clean up your file names so that there are no spaces or special characters in them like this…

2014-pups-20weeks.mp4

I don't understand uploading the video to the server. If it's in the Assets and I publish the site to the host server, wouldn't it be in the media files that are uploaded? How and where do I need to upload the video on the server? I currently use FileZilla to upload.

Sorry, I wasn't too clear about this!

The file path you have for the video is the wrong one.
When you clicked the Choose button to select the video file that you dragged into the Assets list, you must have then clicked the choose in the blue bar of the pop up window. This would have opened the Finder and then you chose a file from a local folder.

When the popup with the list of assets appears, click the file name - not the "Choose…"
