Update Frequency for Marketing Purposes

Hi Paul, I am concerned about the exposure that EverWeb is getting on the marketing side. I realize that you have a limited team in terms of development and so forth, but one thing that I think that could help you guys tremendously is to speed up the release cycle a bit. If you release more x.x.x updates (1.3.2, 1.3.3, etc.) at a higher frequency building up to a 1.4 release, I think you might be able to maximize your MacUpdate exposure and raise confidence of would-be customers. Even us owners forget about the forum and betas here sometimes and the odd thought of abandonment crosses my mind, eg: "Uh oh, EverWeb hasn't been updated for a while. I wonder what's going on there." Was just thinking that working on smaller feature additions might help you gain more exposure and build confidence. Being an actual software developer myself, I know how hard that is. It is so hard to see the forest for the trees and it's hard to do micro implementations; test them properly and then deploy them... but I wanted to offer my 2¢ as I really want to see this gain the attention it really does deserve. I was going to start building an iWeb replacement myself and never found the time, so I have been thrilled by your effort. ------------------------------- Custom application and web developer. I think you have made a good point. Because I'm always using the latest Beta, I forget about how the "outside" world sees EverWeb and its development. To someone who doesn't visit this forum, it may appear the EverWeb isn't seeing much in the way of development which, as we know, is definitely not the case. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Hi George, Thanks for your feedback. We were aiming for a once a month update, but of course with software sometimes things don't go as planned as unexpected issues come up and unplanned features need to be implemented. I really appreciate your passion for EverWeb though. It's so great to hear this type of feedback and you bring up some very good points! Version 1.4 has a lot of improvements, but the image gallery improvements are obviously what will stand out and they took some extra time because we really wanted to do it right. Should you feel the urge to help spread the word, we would really appreciate that as well. For example, you can tell your favorite bloggers/podcasters about EverWeb, post to mac/web site development forums, leave some reviews, etc... http://www.macworld.com http://www.macstories.net http://www.macnn.com http://www.macrumors.com http://www.mac-forums.com And it's always great to read positive reviews on sites like MacUpdate. Thanks again!, ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |
