Image Slider (built in)

User: Patrick H. 12 years ago
I am trying to use the image slider. Actually, it is foolproof. So thought I :-)

The attachement shows the settings in EW. Whatever I tried by now I get the error message "Image not found" on the published web site (as seen here in my test environment: spritzguss.einmaleins.ch)

Any help very appreciated.

Kind regards, Paddy

I think it may have to do with the fact that you are publishing the files to a sub domain. Can you publish the website directly to the root folder?

In this case I cannnot publish to the root, since there is my own website :-)
But I can test it with a subfolder instead of a subdomain. Will do that in a few hours and give you feedback here in the forum.
Anyway, you agree that it should also work on subdomains, don't you?

By definition and design, your website IS root.

http://spritzguss.einmaleins.ch/

The physical location on the server is not relevant.

So this is root too :

http://www.einmaleins.ch/

www are just three characters. It has no technical meaning.

So focus on the problem. Check the permissions:

Great, Jumbo

Thanks for the hint. Put the permissions to 644 or 444 and now it works.

But: Any idea why this is not properly set automatically? I published vom EW to a folder and uploaded the whole stuff with my FTP client. Shouldn't the permissions be set by EW?

No, because the permissions are set on your FTP server, not your local computer. Especially if you don't publish direct to your FTP server from EverWeb, it has no access to your FTP server.

But this shouldn't happen and could have either been done from your FTP Client or an incorrect configuration by your server.

In the future I highly recommend you publish directly from EverWeb.
