Link that pops open a NEW page?

I remember in iWeb, that I could set a link to open a NEW page, instead of GO to a new page. Thus my visitor stayed obviously on my site, and a new window was opened - rather than requiring him/her to back peddle. Which some people seem to have a bit of an issue with. Also … sometimes that window is offering something that needs to be seen in context with the original page. Or, if this is possible … and I've just missed a click somewhere. I'm all ears… Ben |

When you select "Link to: An External Page" in the Link inspector, the checkbox for the option to open the link in a new window becomes available. If you want to open a page of the same site in a new window you would need to use the above function and enter the absolute URL to the page since the box won't accept relative URLs. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | Hi Roddy, thank you. What I've got is: a PDF download, that's related to the site. So I used "Link To A File" … which doesn't give me the option of opening in a new window. Mmmm. How might I work around that? I'm really uncomfortable about the page BECOMING the PDF file as 'viewed-in-Safari'. I've already written a note on the download page that they have to first 'save' the file to their desktop, then open it from there. Just trying to make this thing foolproof. If I could get the downloading PDF to open in a separate window, that might save some confusion. | |

Create a ZIP of the PDF using the Finder File menu and choosing "compress" or use the application Yemu Zip to create a PC compatible one. Drag this into the EverWeb assets list and then create a text or image hyperlink using "Link to: A File" The PDF will then automatically download to the visitors desktop when the link is clicked. You can also use a little javascript to open the PDF in a new custom sized browser window. If you don't want to use code there's a widget for that. The widget is demoed on THIS page. Look at the third example which opens a PDF. The PDF explains how to create the link yourself if you do want to use code rather than the widget. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
