How to reorder the page list

User: Courtney H. 12 years ago
I've been rebuilding a client's iWeb site in EverWeb and its turning out to be more pleasant that I thought. It's really a good program but there are a few things that have stumped me and weren't covered in the manual. Here's one:

How do I reorder the page list on the left column?
I rebuilt some of the pages out of order and since the list reflects this the dropdown menus don't look as good as they can.
I click-hold and move a directory page it only becomes a sub-directory page of what's above it on the list. I need it to not be sub to anything.

Thanks.

I had problems with this when I first started working with directories..
When you move a page a black line with a little loop at the left hand end appears.
The trick is to move this to the left to prevent a page going into a directory.
Slowly drag the page name to the left as though you are trying to drag it off the EverWeb window.
When the cursor pointer almost reaches the left hand edge you will see the loop (and line) move slightly to the left.
Once this happens the page will drop outside of the directory.

What a great trick and something I probably would never have found.
Works like a charm.

Much appreciated!

I couldn't figure it out either.

When I was having problems I asked the Boss (Paul) and he put me straight.

It's one of those things that's going to come up more often when a lot more users are creating directories. It may be worth the developer's while creating a little instructional movie to show how this is done as it's probably easier to illustrate than describe it in words.

I normally do sites in Dreamweaver or something else that fries my brains. This is my first time with one of the "do it for you" web development programs and it's actually pretty nice. I won't look at the code though. It may freak me out :-)

There's a lot of stuff not in their manual that should be. I have to suspect reordering menu pages is not an uncommon task. Moving objects from one area to another using COMMAND-Drag is another. Time for you to write a book...

EverWeb is developing so fast that it must be near impossible to keep up to date with the instructions!

I'm having a hard enough time keeping up with the widgets. The latest version of EW has introduced some new and exciting possibilities for them.
