Hello, I frequently encounter HTML snippets and other widgets not showing up on my working canvas. E.g. It will say <generating preview> for a long time and still not show up. I quit the application and restart my Mac etc still doesn't work. It's alright when you preview the page on google or safari, but it's annoying when it doesn't show up while you are working on it. This has been the case since day one and was much improved by the addition of the Preview button. The snippet will only display static content when viewed on the design canvas. When using custom code in general it should be viewed and tested in the browser and, in some cases, when published to the server. Flash files, for example, will not work locally due to the security settings and some javascript won't function until uploaded to the server. I found this very frustrating when publishing to a local folder or using Preview in previous versions due to the time taken to publish changes. But it's wierd that some http snippets/widgets show up correctly and some shows up as a gray box only. The same happens to widgets developed by yourself. I tried to add an IMG widget because I wanted to add alt tags to the images, and it was frustrating to work with gray boxes eventually. Whilst on the other hand, I could have added images directly and forego the alt tags, which also it is not ideal for SEO. Items such as HTML headings and images should preview in EW. Here's a screenshot of both HTML headings and images inserted with the widgets…

I am attaching 2 screenshots in instances in the same project whereby one worked, and the other didn't. Both widgets from your end. Of coz' there are also snippets not from your side that is not working as well.

Have you tried adjusting the HTML Snippets setting in Preferences/General?

Yes I have set that to the max at 20. It's not working. I this a bug that the everweb team can fix?

Setting it to 20 means it will take at least 20 seconds to show the HTML Snippet preview. I suggest you redownload from the EverWeb site as 1.3.1 (which is posted there but not yet added to the Check for Update menu within EverWeb) has improvements on how snippets are previewed within EverWeb. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

I have found snippets to be very erratic and I can't find any reason for it. Sometimes they update immediately, sometimes slowly and other times not at all. I can't pin it down to anything - number of widgets per page, number of widgets per site, time of day, weather, state of the moon, whatever. The EverWeb Codebox has literally 100s of widgets. With the latest improvements to the software, they mostly update quickly but there are still times when they don't. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes the application seems to want to update every snippet on every page for no apparent reason.
