I create two different websites from EverWeb. I downloaded the new software upgrade and changed one to FTP this morning and uploaded it to the server and everything net beautifully. It published with the changes and it was quick and efficient. The other site may have a bit of a problem though. That server only accepts SFTP currently. Will the new upgrade allow me to publish directly to this server? I hope so because it sure was easy with the first website. |

EverWeb support FTP and FTP over SSL. It does NOT support FTP over SSH. You'd have to find out if SFTP is referring to FTP over SSL or FTP over SSH. You can try and make sure you select FTP over SSL/TLS in the Protocol drop down menu.

Carol, did you ever find a solution to this issue? I'm having the same issue trying to publish an EverWeb site to an older OS-X 10.5.x server. It accepts FTP and SFTP (FTP over SSH) connections only. Short of being able to publish directly from EverWeb via SFTP, the next best solution I have found is using an app called Forklift2 (see Mac App Store). In Forklift, a "synclet" will take a local folder and a server folder and sync any updates. So just "Publish To: Folder" and use ForkLift to send changes to the server. It requires an extra mouse click or two, but once the connection/remote folder/local folder/options are set for the "synclet" it's all pretty simple. An alternative might be to setup and AFP connection in "Connect to server" inside Finder, then publish to this folder. While it may eliminate a step, this seems a little more complex to setup and maintain over the long haul. It would be better if EverWeb supported SFTP directly like iWeb did, as that's what the older OS-X servers want. Last edit 11 years ago |
