Viewing Shadow for Page Background
Shadow for Page Background

| Hello. Why does the shadow for the Page Background extend on both sides but not include the bottom? Also it abruptly ends at the bottom of the page and does not taper & blur the way a shadow would. It looks unfinished and sloppy. The shadow either needs to encompass the entirety of the page or the user should have the option of selecting the shadow to be on the left or right side and it should blur uniformly and taper diagonally. | |

| Also, I don't use the Safari browser, so only having the ability to preview in Safari from within the program is inconvenient, but having said that, I opened the 'Our Story' template, unchanged or manipulated, in both Google Chrome and Safari and it looks the way it does inside of EverWeb in Chrome and not Safari. Some of the fonts appear to not be supported and the formatting is not the same. I think, I'll be using this application for the next couple of days to see if it really has any advantage for me over iWeb which I still currently use and have none of these issues with, but that I'll need to know what the procedure is for the money-back guarantee which was mentioned in an earlier forum post. Thanks. | |

Hi Steve, Thanks for the feedback, we will improve the shadow feature for a future version. All of your installed browsers are displayed in the Preview menu. Do you have any other browsers installed on your computer? You said you don't use Safari, what browser do you use? Can you show screenshots of what you are seeing in Safari and Chrome for the Our Story template? Did you publish it somewhere? there shouldn't be any differences and I don't see any on my computer so I'd like to see what you are seeing so I can better understand the issue. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

As I mentioned earlier, I have Google Chrome installed on my computer and it is not listed in the 'Preview' drop down menu within EverWeb. A screenshot of what I'm talking about regarding the fonts and formatting is below. Also, there should be a way to upload photos directly as attachments from our hard drives to these forum posts instead of us having to upload them to our server or a third party site like photobucket then use a URL link, why even have the 'Image' option there if it's the same as the 'URL' option. I have a question as well, last night I tried to delete about 50 Assets listed in the Assets tab within EverWeb and could not find a way to select all or Click and select multiple items to delete, so once I manually deleted them one by one and closed and opened the program again, all of the Assets which were deleted were there again, so I had to delete them all over manually on-by-one. Is there another way to do this? If not, there should be, because if you add and delete template pages, the Assets are still listed in the Asset library and have to be manually deleted, otherwise there could potentially be a very large Asset library of unused Assets which makes things both unorganized and confusing.

Hi Steve, 1. All installed browsers should show up under the Preview button in the Toolbar. I am not sure why Chrome wouldn't show up for you if it is installed. Do you have the latest version? 2. As Yelena mentioned press the Advanced button to attach images here 3. The text formatting in Safari looks like it's just a caching issue. The formatting is just not being loaded properly. Can you empty your cache in Safari and reload the page? 4. I just tried deleting assets and it works fine for me after closing and re-opening. Did it work the second time you did it? Asset Management will be improved in a near future version. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Steve, it is listed in the Preview...Safari, Chrome and Firefox....Which version of EverWeb are you using? Yelena- I am using 1.3b4 which is the version Paul-RAGESW said in an earlier forum post to me would basically be the final candidate and allow for single click publishing without a third party ftp application from within EverWeb. I purchased the software based solely upon the ability to evaluate this and also was told there is a guarantee so I didn't feel it would be a problem to return if needed. If I am unable to single click publish in version 1.2, I will need to refund the purchase until a final candidate version becomes available as I will not be able to fully assess the usefulness of this application versus my current iWeb setup. Paul-RAGESW- #1, I was using version 1.3b4 which you had referred me to in an earlier post as I was told this was the version which could single click publish from within EverWeb using our own hosting account and the option to preview to anything other than Safari was not there, #2, I will know next time to used the advanced settings if there is a need to post another screenshot and I will try what you suggest in #3 of your response and see if it makes a difference and also, to answer, #4, after deleting the assets manually one at a time then closing the application and reopening they were still there, having deleted them a second time, manually, they were gone after reopening EverWeb, but again, is there no way to delete more than one at a time because it's just as inefficient and time consuming as having to publish to a folder and upload via a third party ftp program... |

| I just downloaded and installed version 1.2 of EverWeb and it still does not have the option to preview in anything other than Safari, plus it does not include the option to 1-click publish to my hosting account. I have version 33.0.1750.117 of Chrome. | |

Steve, it all sounds strange... Since I am just an amateur user I will leave it to developers to figure it out...But sounds like there is some bug... I personally don't have any of these issues. Everything works perfectly...

Roddy, Is that image of the Site Publishing Settings for me? If so, I already know where that is in 1.3b4, but it isn't in 1.2, which is the one I've started using since yesterday to try and find out why the option to publish in Chrome is not available. I've done as you suggested and repaired permissions, shut down and restarted after I reinstalled Google Chrome and Firefox. I didn't have Firefox previously installed and since restarting it is now an option to publish in along with Safari, however Chrome is still missing. Maybe you can answer the Asset Manager question for me, I would like to know if it's possible to multiple select assets in the Asset Library to delete them or if it's always going to be a one at a time procedure. Also, I'm waiting to purchase your plugins until I decide to keep EverWeb or not. With what I've seen so far, I'm leaning toward waiting until a more polished version comes out, as it is right now, there's too much unpredictable behavior when trying to layout items (color, spacing, etc.) versus what I end up seeing when I publish among other things. |

That's kind of weird about Chrome! Are you sure Chrome is in the main Applications folder. and not some other place or a sub folder? We've been asking for better asset management since day one. I would like to see the possibility of adding assets in sub folders but obviously it is not straight forward or we would have it by now. We are being promise some improvement in this department but I don't know when or what. Lots of us have built sites with EverWeb and some users even started while the app was in beta. If you are publishing to the EW server use the Preview button check out how the page will look in the browser. Having seen screenshots of some user's assets list I can see their problem. I tend to name files with something descriptive for SEO and that makes them easier to find. I also group assets by name. An example would be all the images for a slideshow. Note the screenshot of the assets for these sliders. Doing this makes them easier to find - and delete if necessary. I think too many people design their web pages in EverWeb and don't stop to think about the overall design and the individual page contents before they start. Most web designers start with a wireframe - or at least a list of pages and a rough sketch of the layout of each one and a list of the required assets. It saves a lot of time and makes for a better end result. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! The answer to your 1st question is 'yes', Google is in the main Applications folder, and the 2nd issue regarding the Assets Management is not merely organization, it's that if I want to see how a specific page for a template looks inside the site, I add it and then EverWeb adds its list of Assets automatically, however, should I remove the page, the Assets are still left behind and then in order to get rid of them I have to look at each and every one of the Assets I do not recognize the name of to make sure it's not one of the others which I've added that are supposed to be there, then I have to delete them one at a time, THAT has the potential to be incredibly time consuming if I look at multiple template pages. And what I'm noticing now, is if I happen to load a graphic and decide that it doesn't look the way I want, then make changes to it in Illustrator or Photoshop and add it again, the previous graphic is STILL in the Asset list even if it's been deleted or overwritten on my hard drive. Why, if the Assets are automatically added are they not automatically removed from the list once they've been manually deleted from the page layout or even from my computers hard drive. I mean, is there a folder within EverWeb that's storing additional copies of already deleted files on my hard drive and if so, where is the option to right click and show in a Finder window so I can get them entirely off my drive. The frustration towards this program is starting to waaay outweigh the benefits of having a few new things over iWeb like Image Slider widgets and SEO integration. |
