Different keywords on the META frame for different pages...

Hi, Since we are entering keywords by placing them on the HEAD/FOOTER CODE box (Head Code box...), it seems that we can't put different keywords for different pages. I tried to modify the keyword by opening the html pages with Text Wrangler and modify the META tag for keywords and it comes back to what was entered in the Head Code box... Do you guys have a special way to do it ? Your video promotes 2 keywords per page... so I assume that there is a way to do it. I didn't have the time to go through all the videos yet but if you have an easy way, that would be awesome ! Thanks Marc |

Hi Marc, It sounds like you might be putting the keywords in the head code box on the Site Publishing Settings window, but there is also a head code box on each individual page (on the Page Settings tab) which is where you should be placing your meta keywords. |

The keyword meta tag is redundant now. Due to over use and abuse, Google hasn't payed any attention to to these in a long time. As Jeremy has pointed out, the boxes for the Title tag and the page description can be found in the Page inspector and the code boxes are for code - not SEO info. This page gives some info about SEO… http://everwebcodebox.com/info/seo.html … and this one shows what the various code boxes are for… http://everwebcodebox.com/code/code-insertion.html Despite what the so called experts say, there's no magic formula for SEO or inserting keywords. It's a question of writing relevant text rather than voodoo. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Is this no longer applicable? http://www.everwebapp.com/seo-for-everweb-video-course/index.html What he says in that video is directly contradicting what you're saying Roddy. If Google doesn't pay any attention to keywords, then why would Google still offer the keyword planner tool? What I don't understand is why there's no keywords section in EverWeb. Why leave it as a code section where we have to type in meta tags? |

The keywords meta tag placed in the head of the HTML doc is pretty much a waste of time since Google has ignored it for long enough. Keywords are those placed in the page file name, title, HMTL headings, text, captions and alt text attribute of img tags of each page. These are the words which hold the "key" to describing and indexing the web page content. The spiders put most importance on the keywords in the title, HTML headings and the image alt attributes. That's why it's important to insert headings and images using HTML or the widgets. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Quote: What he says in that video is directly contradicting what you're saying Roddy. If Google doesn't pay any attention to keywords, then why would Google still offer the keyword planner tool? Search engines do not use the Keyword meta tag anymore. Google's Keyword planner is still relevant because keywords can be placed elsewhere on your page such as within your web page copy. They Keyword Planner is also used for adwords and Google's Pay Per Click advertising services. Quote: What I don't understand is why there's no keywords section in EverWeb. Why leave it as a code section where we have to type in meta tags? Because it isn't really relevant anymore. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

| Thanks for your replies. Forgive my skepticism, but I'd just like to understand it logically. If Google doesn't place any importance on keywords, why is there still a Google keyword planner tool? Also, why is this still covered under the EverWeb SEO Video Course ("Keyword Research")? | |

Quote: If Google doesn't place any importance on keywords, why is there still a Google keyword planner tool? You are confusing the terms. Keywords are used to search for websites in Google so the research tool allows you to find keywords people are searching for. These should be placed in various areas on your website BUT NOT the META keywords tag which Google ignores. So keywords SHOULD be put on your website, just the Keyword Meta tag is of no important to Google, or any search engine, when ranking your website. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |
