Thanks for the version 1.3 beta 2 version: the FTP server publishing is a big boost for me and it works great! I appreciate that you also bring major implementations to the stand alone EverWeb purchasers. By the way - how is the ratio between stand alone and hosting purchases? But there are still things to iron out. You suppose to change the color of the text of your navigation menu, including the Rollover and Visited colors, which you can do on the Hyperlinks tab. On the website that I've created http://www.kztimmerenonderhoudsbedrijf.nl the Normal and Rollover hyperlink formatting do work but the Visited (see attachment how I did set it) does not show up in any of the browsers. It is not normal practice to use the "visited" attribute in a navigation menu and the default EverWeb navigation doesn't allow for this in the styles.

| I do not agree at all. Should the Visited color show you the active page of the menu? Now you have now clue which of the pages of the menu is the active one that you are looking at - as it does not highlighted with a different color than the others. | |

I do not agree at all. What I see on the web is that it is normal practice that the active page that you choose from a menu is highlighted with a different text or background color after the switch, so that you know and see where you are in the menu at that moment. Should the Visited color not show you the active page of the menu? Now you have now clue which of the pages of the menu is the active one that you are looking at - as it is not highlighted with a different color than the others. Last edit 12 years ago |

Quote: Should the Visited color not show you the active page of the menu? Visited and Active are different things. The <a> tag has four states - a:link - normal a:visited - a link that has been clicked before by the same visitor in a session a:hover - the link state on mouseover a:active - the state of the link when it is actually clicked What you probably mean by an "active" link is more accurately described as "current" in that the hyperlink for the current page is a different color from the rest of the links. This is achieved by giving the "current" list item in the HTML for the menu a class in the styles. The appropriate list item has this applied on a page by page basis. It is not possible at this time to apply the "current" feature to the EW default menu. It would have to be done post publishing which is a real drag. Since your site only has about 8 pages it would be perfectly feasible to use a custom menu in an HTML Snippet, add the "current" class to the styles and insert this into the HTML on every page. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! On page 32 in the EverWeb manual it is stated in the section Navigation Menu: "If you would like to change the color of the text, including the Rollover and Visited colors, you can do so on the Hyperlinks tab." Reading your answer means that this is impossible; which means that the text in the manual is wrong and has to be changed? Last edit 12 years ago |

Quote: Reading your answer means that this is impossible; which means that the text in the manual is wrong and has to be changed? It probably should be changed since it is a little confusing. It is correct for formatting a text hyperlink but not for formatting links in the navigation. In general, the visited color should be set to the same as the link color. Otherwise it can get confusing for beginners who will see the visited color when they visit their own site - rather than the link color - and think they have done something wrong. This used to be a regular question in the iWeb forum. iWeb was even more confusing because it also had the "disabled option" which is not really an option at all. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! There was a security issue a few years ago. Due to that the visited link css was disabled in browsers. Here's an article : http://webdesignfromscratch.com/html-css/getting-around-the-css-history-leak-limitations/ |
