Cant get RSS feeds to work with the widget...

User: Steve 12 years ago
I'm trying to use a google alert RSS feed with the RSS widget. It shows when I create the page in EW, but will not work in preview mode or when published...

Does this widget work? Am I doing something wrong?

ok.... Think I figured it out.
The url google gives you is something like ( feed://www.google.com/alerts/feeds/...)
If you modify it like this ( http://www.google.com/alerts/feeds/...) replacing feed: with http: it worked...
Not very nice formatting, but it works...

Hi,

What's the exact URL you are using so I can test it here.

I'll send a link tomorrow.
But since I wrote that I read that Safari doesn't support RSS any more...

The problems I'm having are that the links don't work. And you can't scroll through the articles on iOS, doesn't matter which browser...

Seems to work fine with the desktop browsers...

Hey Paul
Here is a test link... http://digitalhotshots.com/proddev/feed.html

If you look at it on a desktop browser, it works fine. But if you look at it on IOS, maybe Android it doesn't scroll properly and the links don't work.

I've played around with the RSS widget and found that it just doesn't work with iOS, we'll see if Apple ever restores the ability...
The refresh problem I was seeing on the desktop browser could have been lack of refresh, we'll see..
Another way I'm trying to do RSS is with iFrame (the widget from Rod) works pretty good, but you have less control of how it looks.

While I'm typing...
Is there a way that you could (some how) start letting us know what's new on your list of videos on the EW support site? Maybe date of publish?
Love the videos...

Thx
S

Ok, it happened again..
This time I tried to refresh the page, which did nothing...
Here is an attachment that shots the page online on the right and the page again in EW which is updated...
I guess basically the page is not updating...
