Text rotation not publishing

This is one I have been meaning to post for a few weeks. I previously used the shape triangle, rotated it so it sat in the top left corner of the page, then made some text saying NEW!. The text I rotated about -45º so it followed the line of the triangle. When I published the triangle had rotated but the text had not. See this page as an example of what I was trying to do: http://synergyschoolradio.com/school-radio-studio-packages/index.html Red Triangle - White NEW! This is actually an image as a work around (it wasn't for this page) but the result when I published was that the text NEW! didn't rotate. Possibly a bug? |

| Did you ever fix this issue? Seems PRETTY basic among a slew of other bugs and and performance issues...Probably shouldn't have launched this product until it was ready. I'll be taking that guarantee refund now. | |

Hi Luke, The next version of EverWeb (1.3) which is in beta right now has an 'export text as image' feature which will make sure that rotated text works when you export in ever browser. You can download it from under the Announcements forum here. We are working on implementing this using HTML and CSS code but not all browsers support this currently. Using the above feature will make sure it works correctly in all browsers. Last edit 12 years ago ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

| You really shouldn't be charging what you do for this obviously incomplete, untested software. Highway robbery. | |

I disagree. The software is tested and is used successfully by thousands of users. On complex projects such as this, it is impossible to test every feature on every single computer set up. We're working hard on fixing reported issues and adding new features. Even software made by Apple has issues with it. I respect your opinion and I'm sorry you feel this way though. I think you're being a bit drastic in your conclusions about the software though. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

| I'm running Mavericks on a MacBook Pro. I'm not sure how much more universal it gets when it comes to your average customer using EverWeb. I just downloaded 1.3 - any text I used that "export as image" feature on shrunk to about a third of its intended size when published...about that refund. | |

Quote: I'm running Mavericks on a MacBook Pro. I'm not sure how much more universal it gets when it comes to your average customer using EverWeb. Everyone has different software installed, different fonts, different amount of memory, hardware etc… It isn't just the operating system and type of computer you have that may affect how software works and interacts with the system. Last week I had someone who had a corrupt font file which was causing crashes. Quote: I just downloaded 1.3 - any text I used that "export as image" feature on shrunk to about a third of its intended size when published… You downloaded 1.3 BETA. BETA means the software is in testing mode and we are providing it to users to test and submit bugs. It is expected that there will be bugs and this is noted on the forum post you downloaded it from. We are doing the testing you said we haven't done, and now you are complaining that there are bugs in this BETA version. Quote: about that refund. Email us if you want a refund and we will process one for you. Last edit 12 years ago ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

"We are doing the testing you said we haven't done, and now you are complaining that there are bugs in this BETA version." Correction, I AM doing the testing that you haven't done. No one should be shelling out $80 for a half baked product. Don't get me wrong, EverWeb has a ton of potential, but it is evident that you guys don't have the man power or resources to manage it in a way that honors your customers. Oh - and I don't love having conversations like this in a public forum or even through electronic communication, but you guys don't have a single way to reach someone over the phone. Quote: but it is evident that you guys don't have the man power or resources to manage it in a way that honors your customers No company does. Again, because of the wide array of people that use the software, we need to do real world testing. If you want to be involved in the testing, you can download the beta version and let us know what the issues are. Many people like the opportunity of being in involved in the development of products they use. But you don't have to be. We very much appreciate users letting us know about issues they encounter so we can fix them. Apple does the same thing. It provides beta versions of its software in order to get real world testing. I've submitted many bug reports to Apple. I have tested the 'Export text as image' feature and I was able to reproduce this on a non-retina iMac. On Retina computers it works fine. So as you can see, small changes will affect the outcome. Thanks for reporting the issue. I can understand your frustration when you encounter bugs. We're working hard to fix them all and we appreciate all feedback we get. But if we waited until all bugs were fixed EverWeb would never be released. If we didn't charge for EverWeb we couldn't afford to make it. We don't have unlimited resources. Without charging we can't pay our developers, designers etc… and there would be no product at all. Again, thanks for your feedback. We are always working on improving the software. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

| EverWeb has made great progress from 1.0 to the current released version. It's refreshing to see that there is a community that is interested and involved in the produce and that we get input direct to the makers. We will always find things that are lacking in any product, or do not work as we wish, or are buggy. I understand Luke's frustrations, but EverWeb provides a great tool for developing robust web sites. Look at what EW users have done. For $80 it's not highway robbery, but a steal for us users. Paul, 100% happy! carry on you are doing brilliantly and I'm happy to write up a testimonial for you. I've worked for many software vendors over the years so I know the challenges to get even half decent software out to market, it's not easy at all! | |

Yeah... EW is good and getting better! Oh heck yes there are little things that bug me, but for the most part it's a totally useable app.. and the money helps keep them afloat and interested in developing. I think they're far enough along to be charging. Now if they were charging but not making monthly upgrades etc.. I might be bitching too! : ) And I'm a guy running just about the oldest version of OSX they support! (yeah I'll upgrade sooner or later) S ------------------------------- MacBook Pro 15in Retina 10.14.6 Nevada, U.S.A Apple since OS 7.1 LE II (pizza box) |
