Viewing Beta 1.2b4

Beta 1.2b4

I'm not finding this version any better for working with larger sites. Publishing even the smallest change takes a long time and the widgets are not updating as they should.
My site is about 80 pages now and I changed the color for the h4 headings about three days ago. These have not updated on about 95% of the pages - yet. Three days is a long time for a widget to update.

Why do all the widgets on all the pages need to update all the time? Why can't they just update on an individual basis when a change is made? This seems to be what is causing new widgets to take such a long time to preview in EverWeb.

After publishing changes, very often the updated page file name icons don't go from red to grey. I had to republish four times to get one page to register the fact that it had been published successfully.

Dragging a bunch of items up/down the page is causing the snippets to walk sideways again although this seen to have been cured in the previous update.

I still can't understand why changing even one letter in the web page description for one page requires the whole website to require republishing?

The changes to larger sites don't relate to publishing speed or widgets updating. It's related to memory consumption and crashing with larger websites.

The time it takes a site to publish will be affected by the number of objects on each page.

How did you update the color? Through the Head Code field in the Publish Settings Screen?

Because some widgets will change such as the RSS Feed. I am not sure why you are having so much trouble with widgets not updating. I haven't had this issue. Maybe it is something unique to your project. Please send it to me so I can take a look.

Was this a master page or a regular page? If it is a master page then beta 5 improves on this.

If you can reproduce this in a project and send it to me, that would be very helpful.

This has been fixed for beta 6, as well as a few other fixes related to this.

EW seems to have to run through all the files to find out which ones have changed rather than recording the changes that have been made.

Yes.

It's not unique to my project. Others are experiencing the same problem but to a lesser extent because they don't have so many HTML Snippets as I have. Here's an example of what I see on a bad day…

Not one of the widgets on this page are showing what they should as can be seen by all the grey rectangles. Even the h4 headings ain't showing the correct text.

This behavior is very erratic. Sometimes the widgets update immediately, sometimes not at all and other times it's somewhere in between. This can change within one session going from good to bad and vice versa. Does EW have to update all the widgets every time a new one is added?

Regular page in a directory.

I sent you a project a while back and the URL to a movie. The problem was fixed for a while but reappeared in this latest version.
