how do i

User: spyboynola 12 years ago
i have my site files ready to publish, there are three of them and they all go to one domain, when i try to publish from EW publish panel they do not show up and i get 404 message. So i published using iWeb SEO software that lets me select public_html directory and my site appears, but when i publish the next site file it over writes the first one.
i need to know how to direct my upload in EW to proper directory and then how to add other files. I think that if i can publish from EW i can name the other files when i publish and they will not over write main one. should i name the main one or just the two that follow. I am so close I could scream. Any help? am going to copy and paste to support also . Thanks for any help available .

Hi,

Did you enter anything in the site name field? If so don't enter anything in there for your main site

See the publishing video for more details on how this is used;

so what if the other parts (files) are not going to different domains? We divided into separate files because one file is too big for software and editing takes to long. I just tried to publish after signing out and back in and published main file ( smallest ) and still got 404 after refresh.

Hi,

This is explained in the video I attached.

You enter a site name for all other sites except for your main site.

Also if you are having problems with big websites use version 1.2 in the announcements forum as it fixes problems with large websites.

If you still have problems please open a ticket with us so we can help you further.

so did everything, published site, still no visuals, instead i get "Index of /" with file numbers and names. Paul said only use EW to publish, i know if i use my iWeb SEO software I can change directory and see the first part of divided web site and the only difference my ability to change directory, very frustrating. Any way low and behold over on the right hand side of publishing window I see the ftp info and the ability to change directory. I have watched the video 10 times, i have posted to support many times, i ask the question, but only by accident did i find this very important item. I know it is mostly my lack of knowledge that caused this and Paul and others never thought they had to explain it to this extent but now we know. Thanks for your time wish me luck as i do you. Good luck
