Viewing Lock & Group keyboard shortcuts

Lock & Group keyboard shortcuts

User: Steve 12 years ago
Lock & Group are a welcome addition, thank you!

But the key commands you've assigned to them are a bit of a pain!

Can we make lock & unlock just "cmd L" ? Instead of so many modifiers to undo....

Same with group & ungroup just "cmd G". engage and disengage

The same way bold & no bold works...

Thx S

Keyboard commands can be useful for a lot of repetitive tasks but they never seem to be available for the things that I want - such as publishing site changes!

I just posted this in another topic but it might be relevant here. If you are using OS X 10.7 or above, try the freeware app CheatSheet.

Cheat sheet helps to overcome the obstacle of developers assigning illogical commands. To me, Command L is used for creating an alias and so adds more confusion to my life when it is used for other functions in different apps.

The solution is in the System Preferences :

I already have this set up as I did for iWeb.

I was hoping the developers of EW would take the hint and use the rather redundant print commands for publishing instead!

Of course it is... Thank you OSX.
But I was asking for them to do it in the app. users shouldn't have to figure work arounds for it.

Just like I think it would be nice to be able to use "shift-cmd-s to publish."

If you read my post... It was asking the "developers" of the app. to do this... Customizing OSX is not the problem....

Why would we bother the developers if it is so easy to customize as you wish?...:)

Because it provides uniformity, then everybody's using the same thing, which helps in further development of the app. so you won't have to "bother" the developers of the software because you "customized it, and your customization is now interfering with updates...

Also when you develop for the Apple os it really helps with the user experience to use more Apple user familiar controls/key commands... This is a design philosophy that Apple has tried to follow since the beginning... : )
