Swapping videos in the same MP4 video widget

User: Kevin G. 10 years ago
Hi,

I have a page that I have four MP4 video links on with a MP4 widget I'm using from http://everwebcodebox.com

What I'd like to know is it possible when you click on a link Vdeo-1 .. Video-2 .. Video-3 or Video-4 just swap the video and poster image in the frame instead of loading a new page with each video.

Thanks.

What you're looking for is a video playlist. I'm not sure the EW widget is capable of that yet. Before it was added, I found Sublime Video and have been using it as my movie player. It requires a fair bit of coding. But it's free (if you don't mind their logo playing on your video for the first 5 seconds), it's slick and fairly customizable. Check out my link and see if this is what you're looking for:

Both Flowplayer and JW Player have designs for playlist video players but, as Christopher has pointed out, they are not for the faint hearted.

I tend to use more out of the box methods if I don't want to be tied to a particular vendor and go for carousels or modals depending on the situation.

The big problem with using a playlist (and carousels) for video is that there isn't much room for the essential text description for the SEO spiders.

Here's an example of a modal style which launches the movie from a thumb and has text descriptions. This was done in iWeb a long time back and I'm sure would be a lot easier to achieve in EverWeb.
