Viewing Show video on my site

Show video on my site

User: Kevin G. 10 years ago
Hi,

I'm building my site and I have a page with a video on it, when I preview my site and got to the video page it shows the video with the play icon in the centre and if i press it the video plays but when I publish my site and goto the video page where the video is it's black with the play icon in the middle and if i press it the loading icon shows going round and round and round and the video never shows, anyone know why please.

Thanks.

Kevin.

That would suggest that the video is not loading.

Have you published the page to the server? If so, can you post the URL?

Also, what browser are you viewing the page in?

There seems to be a problem with the actual video file...

http://www.thelabmultiplayer.com/ewExternalFiles/Lab_Video_001.mp4

Everything else seems fine - code wise.

OK, Thanks for that.

How do I connect my FTP to my webspace .. what settings do I use?

Thanks.

Roddy if I goto

http://www.thelabmultiplayer.com/ewExternalFiles/Lab_Video_001.mp4

then highlight the address and ALT/enter to download the video once downloaded it plays fine so it looks like the problem is not the video.

Contact your hosting service's tech support to see if the server supports the MP4 mime type or if there is some other problem.

I'm a bit confused now as when I purchased EverWeb I purchased web hosting too, after reading that they guaranteed all function would work with their web hosting and could not guarantee them working with other hosts.

That video on my site was directly imported from iPhoto as a .mp4 so I decided to try another video, it was a .flv that I converted with 4Media Vidoe Converter, I put it on a test page ..

Link

And that works, so videos from iPhoto seems the problem, Roddy thanks again for the help.

Hi Kevin,

I'll need you to send me your website project file then so I can take a look.

In the Projects window in EverWeb, right click on your website and select the 'Show On Disk' option.

Please compress the project file before sending it to me by right clicking on it and selecting Compress. You can upload it at http://ge.tt or http://www.dropbox.com and send the link to me.

Make sure to describe the problem you are experiencing when you send your email.

The "video" that I downloaded from your sever is not actually a video file. It appears to be an image with a .mp4 extension.

If you are exporting from iPhoto, export as .mov and then convert it to MP4 using something like Miro Video Converter.
