Viewing Stat Counter Code

Stat Counter Code

User: Steve 10 years ago
I'm using statcounter for my old iWeb sites which works fine...
Just wondering which code I should include in the footer when using EW...

Will standard work with EW or is one of the others preferable?

Use the same code you use for iWeb in the Footer section of EverWeb.

Hmmm Something strange here...
I've pasted the code in the footer box in the inspector, but the code doesn't show either in EW preview or when I publish and view source code.

Ideas?

Ok... If I paste it into the "header" box, it shows....

I put it in the header and tested it on the statcounter site and it says it's good... When in the footer it says "not detected"...
Did some tests and it shows the traffic when in the header...

I'm kind of confused, from what i read "they" say to put it in the "footer", but it doesn't work when I do it that way, but it does work when I put it in the "header" box... So???

If it works leave it alone?

It will work in the footer if you download the latest version of EverWeb.

The last version wouldn't publish footer code properly.

Do you mean the Beta? I have the latest otherwise...

Can I leave it in the header?
Does it really matter?

Or will it work better, and not take up header space if
I move it?

Footer code is working OK for me in the version that was released yesterday.

It's OK to put code in the header as long as there is no HTML. It makes for a more efficient downloading page if you place it in the footer code box.

Didn't someone else here end up with jelly-belly ads on his site because he had implemented statcounter? It's free and it looks great. So is there a catch?

Thousands of iWeb users have Statcounter and I have never heard any reports of jelly-belly ads. I also took my grand daughter to the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield California last year and they didn't mention website stats anywhere on the tour.

I don't use these kind of stats because I really don't need to know how many people in downtown Tokyo visited a certain page at 3.03 pm local time.

My server has Webalizer which gives me all the info I need without having to add code to all my web pages.

This code is put in the site-wide Footer code box, right? As opposed to on every page.

The java script for any stat code can be pasted into the site wide Footer Code box. Obviously, if there is any HTML such as for a physical counter, this needs to go in a snippet.
