Viewing Scrolling

Scrolling

User: Roddy 13 years ago
While traveling about I've been using a MacBook Pro Retina and a magic mouse with EasyWeb. I've been scrolling using swipe gestures.

I've just unpacked my iMac and tried using a standard mouse. The scroll bars on the EasyWeb window appear when I use the scroll wheel or increase/decrease the EasyWeb window but otherwise disappear so that I can't scroll the section with the web page content.

This, obviously, happens on both machines but I hadn't noticed it due to using the track pad or magic mouse on the laptop.

Doesn't this happen to anybody else?

Hi Roddy,

We're trying to find a way to detect if the scrollbars should always be visible based on the mouse being used. As more people use EasyWeb, more people will run into this issue I think.

I'm using a mouse with a scroll ball but it sticks a lot and I tend to just use the scroll bars.

We will provide an option in the preferences to set whether or not to always show scrollbars.

I'm wondering why you would need to hide them. I like to see them as it reminds me that I have content that is out of sight!

On 10.7 and later having the scrollbars hidden is actually the default setting.

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a way to get the default settings under System Preferences -> General

Am also having trouble with the scrollbar on the Inspector. My only work around is to resize the window and quickly jump to the arrows to move up and down! Obviously only an issue on the 'page details' tab with the most info on it. (Btw I'm using OS10.6.8...)

In the EasyWeb window the Inspector pane always shows the scroll bar no matter what I select in System Prefs and the main window doesn't show the scroll bars until I touch the scroll button on the mouse.

In Safari, for example, the scroll bars are always showing when I select "Show scroll bars automatically based on mouse or track pad" or, obviously, "When scrolling".

I just noticed that the Site Publishing Settings page shows the scroll bars. Why this and not the content pages?

We'll make this more consistent and provide a preferences option to always show scrollbars.
