Viewing Image opacity

Image opacity

User: Steve 12 years ago
I did a few searches on this topic, and found that the problem exists... Is there going to be a fix for images with their opacity reduced turning white?
They look fine when you do it in EW, but then they show white in the preview mode safari/firefox...

Whats the latest on this?

thx
Steve

That's a new one. Least to me. I've reduced opacity on shapes and have not encountered what you're talking about. If this is happening to you, sounds like png's being published as jpeg's. If you post a screenshot comparing what you see in EW with the published result, I think it will helpful.

Hmmm I didn't realize you couldn't use jpegs...

I'll try it with a PNG.

Hey Steve, you can use jpegs. But I think as soon as you apply any effects to them - border, transparency, reflection, etc. – EW automatically converts them to a png. That's because png's are the only format that can retain opacity. If you try to save a jpg that you've added transparency to as a jpeg, you'll see white where you want to see translucence. That sounds like what you're seeing. But it still doesn't make sense to me. You should easily be able to import an image of any type - jpeg, png, gif? - add transparency, and let EW do the rest.
