Mavericks is Free!

I am just downloading the new OS X upgrade - Mavericks - on my Macbook to try it out before risking it on my iMac. I want to test out the "breakthrough power efficiency and responsiveness" and hope that it is a vast improvement on the sluggishness of Lion/Mountain Lion. It was quite a surprise to find that it is free. I wonder if Apple will actually pay us to download the next one? Now that Apple has started this trend, I suppose other software developers will follow suit and it won't be too long until EW is free! A perfect post for one of those laughing emoticons... gotta bring them back! This trend towards cheap or free software has got to be tough on small/medium sized companies though. Obviously in Apple's case, the software is free to encourage users to buy the hardware. Not that I'm complaining ;) ------------------------------- rMBP 15", 2.6 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, OS X 10.11.6, with 27" Thunderbolt Cinema Display www.cleetche.com |
