I having been using media players like Mediaelement, Audio/VideoLS, Flowplayer and JW Longtail for a number of years for two main reasons... (a) A uniform appearance in all browsers (b) The fact that only one format of Audio/Video file needs to be uploaded. Reason (b) is probably laziness on my part but it also saves time and server space. It means that there is no need to add an OGG file (or a WebM) for Firefox since the player will fallback to flash in both newer and older versions of Firefox as well as older versions of Internet Explorer. Now I know that we should try to utilize HTML5 playback to reduce computer processor requirements but this doesn't really apply to desktop devices - apart for an unplugged laptop. I have always been prepared to sacrifice this for the convinces mentioned previously. The EW Video Player does not function in Firefox when only an MP4 file is provided which suggests that it is suffering from a similar problem to the one that the audio player encountered before it was modified. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! They don't play an MP4 using HTML5. They all fallback to flash to play the MP4 just like the mediaelement audio player falls back to flash in Firefox if an OGG file isn't available.

EverWeb includes the FLASH files. Have you gotten Mediaelement working with flash and MP4 files in FireFox?

[quot]Have you gotten Mediaelement working with flash and MP4 files in FireFox?[/qout] Not in EverWeb. I actually use VideoJS for single videos since it is much easier to set up and you can use their hosted files. The downside is that it won't stop one player when another is started like mediaelement and flowplayer. You need to use a playlist player for that. On the other hand, VideoJS is responsive now. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Here's an example of Mediaelement video with just an MP4 file and some other adjustments. Try it in Firefox.
