I have a little problem. I am using a Font for the title of all of my pages and it looks right in all browsers on my IMac where the font is installed. However I discovered that it is all screwed up on an IPad and computers where it is not. I may have to go with another Font but I can't find anything similar. It is an Edition Font that was on my Mac originally. So my question is whether there is any way to go around that problem - some code I could use? Well, I don't know what I am asking but I am sure Roddy does... <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

I found a way that is so simple. Take a screen shot of what you want and use that on all of your pages. They all see a jpeg. I did it here: http://dustnlint.com/NEW_TEST_SITE/gall ... inery.html |

Thank you! I will try that. I used a copy from IWeb but the image was not as crispy as the original which greatly diminished the quality. Will try to make a screenshot but I doubt it will be good enough...<!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

If it's just for a logo, and you've used the word elsewhere, then a jpeg or png is one way to go. But you want to use actual text as much as possible to ensure greater search engine optimization. Basically, you need to use Web Safe fonts, categorized in your Font Book under 'Web' (left column) or Google Fonts. Google has hundreds that you can download and then add to your font book. It is recommended creating a new category for these called Google Fonts. EasyWeb will do the rest. Find them here: http://www.google.com/fonts Otherwise, if you want to use another font not found in the above, you have to host it in your server. If you search the forums, you'll find tips on how to do this. ;) ------------------------------- rMBP 15", 2.6 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, OS X 10.11.6, with 27" Thunderbolt Cinema Display www.cleetche.com |

This is what I am looking for. The rest I do know and use but this particular font is very specific and I can't find anything to match - and I have a very cracky client...:) ------------------------------- Yelena MacBook Pro OS X 10.10.3 IMac 21" OS X 10.10.3 |

What's a "cracky" client? <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->

| Question: couldn't you use any font for your page title and put it to the back of the jpeg photo title? Google could still read it behind the jpeg couldn't it? Just an uneducated question. Google would read the font and the viewer would see the image? | |

You know how you have the ability to move items to the front or back. Place you font title and then put the jpeg in front of it. I'm just guessing here but might work. I'm guessing but I think Google will read the text and the viewer will read the jpeg. Paul, help us out here. |

I assume you mean to place the image BEHIND the font. Otherwise the font would not be visible???? Anyway, I have solved it. Everything is working...:)

| No, just the opposite. Put your font behind what you want the viewer to see (JPEG). I'm pretty sure Google Crawler will see the HTML text behind the photo. Paul or Roddy needs to help with this one. | |

Yelena, He is saying have text object behind your image within EasyWeb. So that the image overlaps the text. This would be considered hidden text and not something Google likes. Your site could be banned for doing something like this (not likely, but against their terms). Use web safe fonts or Google fonts for maximum compatibility. That's the nature of the web and how you have to design websites. Even if you wanted to use a custom font, you need to make sure you have the license to use it (by use it I mean upload it to your server, not set the font style in EasyWeb). Keep that in mind. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Paul, I am sorry, I still have no idea what you guys mean. If text is behind the image how would you see it? Also, the font was on the Mac and is actually available freely on different sites so I don't see a problem. But as I said I converted it to an image and it works fine. Here is the site if anyone is curios... www.johneasterlin.com (the font in question is on all pages except the first, it is the name "John Easterlin") ------------------------------- Yelena MacBook Pro OS X 10.10.3 IMac 21" OS X 10.10.3 |
