Open iWeb archive

Need I'd say more... it'd be >useful to be able to import edit our "old" iWeb sites in EasyWeb.
This would be the killer app. I frequently use iWeb for rapid mock-up and have a number of templates and design elements in multiple sites in my desktop database.
Thanks

That's most likely not going to happen, but can easily drag / drop content from iWeb to EasyWeb. There might be some issues with drag...drop especially with html widgets though.

The only application that can open an iWeb domain.sites2 file is iWeb.

You would not want to import an iWeb site anyway since the code is outdated and not efficient.

Rebuilding your website in EasyWeb will allow you to use all the features that aren't available in iWeb with much more efficient code.

You should take advantage of the fact that you can create all your headings as HTML for better SEO results. Set up a master text box style to paste text copied from your published site. If you create a new text box every time you want one you will end up with a whole bunch of repetitions in your text stye sheet.

Also note that EasyWeb uses proper code injection - unlike iWeb - so snippets should not be copied over if they contain doctype, header code, internal styles and so on.

EasyWeb allows you to create a far better site than iWeb - take advantage of it!

"Set up a master text box style to paste text copied from your published site."

How do you do this? I'm a beginner at editing html.

This has nothing to do with HTML.

When you insert a text box, enter text and style it, EasyWeb creates a class and some CSS in the text styles.css file which looks like this...

.Style45{font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;
font-size: 15px;
color: #BDBDBD;
}

Look at this stylesheet from some of the EasyWeb testers and you will see hundreds of styles which the browser has to read.

It makes more sense to setup master styles for paragraphs as well as h1, h2, h3 etc headings on your template page and then just copy and paste them to new pages as needed.

Perhaps someday soon we will be able to define all our basic text and link styles using the "Edit Default Styles" button in the Metrics inspector.

I realise that some users feel the need to have a riot of different fonts, text styles and colors plastered all over their pages but most of us will use the same styles throughout the site to prevent visitors getting confused.

EasyWeb intelligently re-uses text styles when they are the same for any text on your site.

I think these instructions are very confusing for most people.
