Viewing Page Formatting: Missing Background and Not Centered

Page Formatting: Missing Background and Not Centered

User: Guest 12 years ago
I have a simple website with five pages which makes use of a background image and centered content. Three of my pages display just fine. However, two of them display without the background image and the content is left aligned. All five pages have the same settings. Is this a bug or a beta limitation? I would really like to deploy this website, but cannot do so with such inconsistencies.

There are no beta limitations.

It doesn't look like your website was published directly from EasyWeb. Please remove any code from the Head code/footer code fields and publish directly from EasyWeb without using any third party tools afterwards besides an FTP client.

If the problem still exists it is an EasyWeb problem, otherwise it is something in the head/footer fields or the tool you seem to be using to optimize your site.

Correct. I publish to a folder and then minify the HTML using HTML-Optimizer Plus before uploading.

I removed the head code from the two pages in question and republished without running HTML-Optimizer Plus to minify. Let me know if there's anything else you need to debug this.

I can take out the sitewide Google Analytics tracking code if you like, but the working pages contain this and the head code. Just sayin'

If it works without your head code and using the HTML Optimizer than I the amount of support I can help here will be limited. We're just way to busy preparing EasyWeb to debug custom HTML Code and third party software at this time.

My suggestions is to slowly add back the Head code until it breaks again to see if that is the issue.

When it comes to the HTML Optimizer, which I suspect may be the problem here, you may want to not use it at this time.

I did some fishing around and I believe the problem lies in the internals of EasyWeb and has nothing to do with my code.

When I preview the page in question using Firefox, I see the following in the browser's address bar: file:///private/var/folders/jn/q5rb_4456nz0rzvbf22rr_cc0000gn/T/TemporaryItems/EasyWeb/7660A9D2A7684A31A3C4AF9FDCE0C7CF/sedona-vortex-tours.html. This page is an out-of-date version that does not match the version being displayed in EasyWeb. In fact, the directory structure is not consistent and some assets are missing.

I tried deleting everything under the EasyWeb folder in the path above and closing and restarting the site, but each time I preview I am still seeing out-of-date pages that are missing items which are displayed when editing the site in EasyWeb.

I hope this helps to better understand the problem. It would appear that EasyWeb has cached a version of the site for use in previewing/publishing and no longer updates this cache.

Pasting that link here doesn't help me because it is a local file that is only accessible from your computer.

You'll have to show screenshots.

You can take a screenshot by holding down the COMMAND and SHIFT keys on your keyboard and then pressing the number 3. An image file will appear on your desktop. When you create a reply you can use the Add Attachment option to add the image to your post.

Your website works fine now online when not using the head code or the HTML Optimizer.

I pasted the link only to illustrate the path. I understand you will not be able to access local files on my laptop.

Regarding my website, please click on the navigation menu items for "vortex tours" and "about me" to see examples of incorrect formatting.

If I load the deployed website in Safari, the background and formatting are as desired.

If I load the deployed website in Firefox, the background and formatting do not work for the vortex tours and about me pages.

Ok, I've localized the problem. I created a new page by duplicating one of the pages that worked and experimented adding elements until it broke. The apparent cause of the problem is a .jpg file. Without it the page is fine. Once I add the jpg file, the page breaks. I've uploaded the HTML with and without the headshot, as well as screenshots from firebug which does not recognize the body element once the jpg has been added. I hope this helps you to better understand what is going on.

The two files you sent in the archive are identical.

You also have code in the Head Code field still. You actually have entered your Google Analytics code multiple times on your site.

I'll need you to send me your website project file then so I can take a look. Send it to https://billing.ragesw.com/submitticket.php

In the Projects window in EasyWeb, right click on your website and select the 'Show On Disk' option.

Please compress the project file before sending it to me by right clicking on it and selecting Compress. If the file is too big, you can upload it at http://ge.tt and send the link to me.

Actually forget my last post, the problem is you have an image with a ' in it. Change the name of the image V'rasana Photo Booth 2 cropped 2-14.jpg in the assets and remove the ' and it will work.
