| Believe the Inspector/Assets/Widgets rectangular boxes on the right are low key, a bit dull, and easy to overlook-especially at first. Could use some color. Same thing goes for the symbols below-they could be colorful, perhaps a little less clunky, and more precise. But that, of course, is a judgment call, as is most design. | |

What do you mean by "more precise"?

Again, this is a judgment call. The best way I can describe "precise" is by the phrase "less thick." Maybe just a little cartoonish. It may be only due to the fact that right now they're rendered in black/white/gray that Metrics / Hyperlinks /Widget Settings don't seem sharply defined. (With colors added, maybe it won't matter.) Decided to check out the iWeb inspector this morning and compare the two. Take a look at the attachments above and see what you think... From where I sit, the colorful, more precise approach grabs me faster. In fact, completely new to EasyWeb (and neither a conscientious nor diligent reader of instructions) I confess it took me days before I even noticed Inspector, Assets, ... Widgets. That got in my way because I needed Assets well before I found them! Though assets turned out to be important to me, they seemed a little irrelevant, shuffled off to the side. A neglected stepchild! |

If you are used to iWeb that might be true. I've never used iWeb much and find those tiny and colourful icons more confusing than the slightly bigger and not so colourful icons in EasyWeb.

I agree - it would be helpful to have them in different colors and better definition. Even having used EW for quite a while I often overlook certain tabs because they are all the same and don't stand out...

Earlier, Roddy, in terms of design, you asked what I meant by "precise." One way to look at it, if you view the button images at the extreme bottom left of the EW page, the page part of the Add Page button and the Media buttons both look to me more precise and vivid than the Colors button which looks slightly thicker and less distinct. This stuff is, of course, all a matter of opinion. Next, you could, for example, take the Page part of the Add Page button, copy it, change the color slightly, and I think it would offer a more eye-catching and sharply-focused effect if it replaced the current black-and-white image up in the Inspector / Page Details section found at the upper right. |

I think that Rage Software in general has good a UI with the right balance of functionality and design but don't tell them that in case they get big headed! You need to remember that the software is in Beta and the developers are hard at work getting it to function correctly and incorporate all these outrageous demands us Beta testers are presenting them with. I'm sure that, at some point, the UI will get more attention. I'm not in favor of "eye catching" stuff outside of the preview area as they are a distraction. When I am working in EasyWeb I slide the window down so that the buttons on the bottom toolbar are hidden because I don't use them. I suppose they are useful to the occasional user who hasn't familiarized them self with the menus or learned the keyboard commands. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | Yes, it makes sense that at this stage of the things, some of the stuff I work with, including text wrap, kerning, and my passion for colorful little symbols might not be at the top of the EasyWeb agenda. In the short run, I'm more interested in a What you see is what you get result when you first create pages in EasyWeb and them look at them when published. Still, in the long run, I wouldn't mind seeing some of those less vital staples included but I'm not counting on it-there may not be a huge demand for it. | |

There's nothing wrong with colorful buttons as long as they are not a distraction. I would agree that the Inspector panel could be visually improved but I assume that there are still features to be added to it and the aesthetics will be addressed in due course. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
