Viewing JQuery Backstetch

JQuery Backstetch

User: Nigel J. 11 years ago
I'm really keen to be able to incorporate back stretch image and wondering how I can get the JQuery plug in / what I need to do to get this into easy web - Have looked up in google - this is beyond my capabilities at this time. Any ideas, suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Here's an example of Backstretch in EasyWeb...

Note that I had to host the image since EasyWeb can't read the the path to an internal asset when it's in java script at this time.

The URL to the image in the setup java script needs to be enclosed in double quotes like this....

[code:x5d9y2t4][/code:x5d9y2t4]

Thanks Roddy.

Have tried without success, and sure I'm misinterpreting your instructions. I've sent Quicktime video of test exercise via Dropbox, which will no doubt show my inadequacies.

As you will see, I'm not clear on where to place the java script /url for the backstretch function to work.

The first thing to do is paste the URL to the background image into the browser to test it and see that it actually works!

All three scripts go into the page Footer Code box or the site wide Footer Code box if you want it on every page of your site...

Thanks again for your support.

After varying attempts this function remains illusive. I've placed another Qicktime clip into Dropbox showing my process. Hopefully it will show where I am going wrong, what I'm missing.

I don't have access to your Dropbox files!

Drop box in Rage Support files - previously accessed by Paul.

Process followed:
~ downloaded JQ. filed in library - directory services, plug-ins
~ dragged JQ. into EW Assets - external files
~ tested image url - ok
~ copied image url between the code you gave
~ copied all three codes into Footer code box
~ published to EW as test - no effect

Don't know how to progress from here.

I don't work for Rage so I don't have access to their files.

Can you post the code that you are pasting into the Footer Code box?

Your code works fine.

You do realise that you can't see the background image until you publish the page? You won't see it in EasyWeb.

I'm clearly getting something wrong, missing something. Any suggestions welcome. As you see I am publishing to EasyWeb, is this sufficient? If not please advise what I need to do.

In an attempt to nail this I'm re-looking at my process which is:

~ downloaded JQ. filed in library - directory services, plugIns, i.e.: srobbin-jquery-backstretch-b9a96f8[/color:1qf9366c]
~ dragged JQ. into EW Assets, i.e. as I have done here: /Library/DirectoryServices/PlugIns/srobbin-jquery-backstretch-b9a96f8/jquery.backstretch.min.js[/color:1qf9366c] - This sits under EXTERNAL FILES

For actual website - not test:
~ uploaded image to imagehosting site
~ tested image url - ok
~ copied image url from imagehosting site and pasted in-between the code you gave - as with test example
~ copied all three codes into Footer Code box for Home page - as previous
~ Published to EasyWeb option [not to folder]: I have one Account and left Site Name: Leave blank to publish to the root
~ when published to internet the url is followed with /index.html which is greyed out

~ home page is transparent with text and logo/image
~ background to home page has image from Assets, published with actual image I want to use and with the one currently using which is tiled. As far as I can tell there isn't an option to leave background image blank. Unless of course I choose colour fill white.

Thanks.

In summary; if all the above is okay and should work - do I need to have my website hosted by different web hosting service?
