In case anyone else is searching for such a tool, I found a website that does this: http://tinypng.org Tried it for the header on my homepage (980*500px in size). It was 287kb before and got reduced to 64kb ------------------------------- Darian new to web design ______________________ My websites: Vocal Affairs // Singkehlchen |

I wish I could compress twice though. My @2x image is still too big in file size.

Jpegs are better to use for smaller sized images. Retina Jpegs can actually be compressed to a smaller percentage and still look ok. However keep in mind that in EasyWeb your retina image must be in the same format as your non retina image. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Yeah, at the end I just went with jpg and made it work without transparency. Way smaller file sizes and still look great.

Can't confirm that. The retina sized logo image (1960 x 320 pixel) on the singkehlchen site has 120kb when exported from pixelmator as a jpg with 90% quality, 315kb when exported as a png, and only 78kb after I shrinked the png using tinypng.org. Might depend on the graphic itself ------------------------------- Darian new to web design ______________________ My websites: Vocal Affairs // Singkehlchen |
