Clicking to move cursor to another area causes the letter I to appear at the place in text where the cursor was previously

For example: I types the word "Artists" in a text box. Then I move the cursor to another spot and click. An I pops up where the cursor was. If the cursor was sitting at the end of the word "Artists," I end up with "Artistsi". if the cursor was between the r and the t, I get "Aritists." Any attempt too go back and delete the "I" just creates another "I" when I move the cursor out of the box again.

I'm working on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.13.2.

Hi Julia

Is your problem happening only in EverWeb or in other programs too? It sounds as if the problem may be related your computer setup e.g. running low on memory or your hard disk getting full may cause issues. Do you have other apps running at the same time (try closing them to see if that helps), do you have many files on your desktop (these may be large and consuming space too), are your apps running slowly? (Maybe you need to do a permissions repair on your mac or a disk repair). Sometimes you just need to shut down the mac if you have not done so in a long time and reboot again, it could be that simple.

this occurs only in EverWeb. My hard drive is not failing and I have plenty of room on it.

Ok, good to know... do you know if your project file is large? You can check by going to the Projects Window then clicking on the up/down arrows to the right of the project name then selecting show on disk from the menu.

If the project is large it could be slowing things down... you could also check for unused assets in the Assets List in the project file and try deleting any assets that you do not use. Once you have done that, try quitting EverWeb and restarting EverWeb again to see if it makes a difference.

if not, what version of EW are you running, what size is your project file and what OS and hardware are you running? That info may help. Do you have any other info that may be of use? E.g. does the problem happen all the time, only on one page in the project etc.

I update EverWeb and the problem went away.
