User: Paul-RAGESW 6 years ago
We included some important fixes in version 2.5.1 for anyone having issues with previewing their website or seeing strange drawing issues when selecting directories from the web page list.

This is version is for Mac OS X 10.9 or later (including High Sierra)
(Official version released: https://www.everwebapp.com/download.html )

CHANGES
- Fixed submitting bug reports
- Fixed issue with redrawing the EverWeb window when you select a directory and the redirect to first child page option is selected in the Inspector
- Made some changes to preview to hopefully fix the crash for some users
- Some optimizations for shapes that are not set as image fill

Hi,

With the previous version, I didn't have any issues. Unfortunately, after updating to version 2.5.1 I've been experiencing significant trouble with previewing my website. I've tried using both google chrome and safari to preview. Many of my pages appear jumbled and broken, and videos don't seem to be working on safari. These issues arose after updating my ever web software and I was wondering if there are any ways to fix this.

Thanks

Hi Neha,

One of the problems appears to be with the latest version of Chrome. They block some of the style sheets when previewing that are needed to properly display your website. We're working on a work around for this.

With Safari it is usually a caching problem and you need to empty the cache.

I can guarantee that everything will work once published.

Since the preview feature is new, it still can use some improvements which we are working on for the next release.

If you ever want to know what the issue is you can use the Developer Tools of each browser. Right click and select 'Inspect Element' and then click the Console tab to see any errors. That will give a better indication of what the issue is. Developer Tools can be turned in in Safari's preferences.

Also make sure you have 2.5.1 and not 2.5 as we did make some changes there.

Rest assured that we are working on improving this for the next release.

Paul, I am concerned that this may not entirely be the case. I have a web created in version 1.9.7 which shows fine on Chrome/Firefox et al on my desktop. ( I have not yet published as I am updating my gallery images.) I have the standalone version. I updated yesterday to 2.5.1 with another year support. In Version 2.5.1, everything Neha describes is happening to my site, fully so on Chrome, and a few niggles on Firefox. I opened the old version of EW, and everything views just fine on the very same version of Chrome. How can this be a Chrome issue if that is the case? I am confused, not to mention 2.5.1 is unusable for me. I am NOT going to rebuild the whole thing again. The whole idea of building your own web is to have easy access to updates and changes for your business. If updates are going to break things then we can't really update for fear the changes will make the update to our web a major production rather than a few minute process. HELP

Hi Mary,

Sorry to hear about the issues you are having.

You'll notice that in 2.5.1 in the path field in Chrome the URL starts with http://

This is because we built an internal web server that gives many benefits over the preview feature of version 1.9.7. It lets you preview on any device connected to your wifi network, it previews certain widgets, like the new Live Photo and Facebook Timeline widgets that wouldn't preview with the old preview functionality, it also previews certain code that is required for https secure websites that would not work in the previous versions.

As well, this new preview system is the beginning of a much larger feature that will provide even more benefits in future updates.

I do understand it is frustrating and we are working on solutions for this. It is also frustrating from our end trying to work around new issues that popup with web browsers.

We may also provide an option to preview using the old system for cases like these.

What makes 2.5.1 unstable for you? Please let me know and we will get this fixed ASAP.

You certainly DO NOT need to rebuild your website again. Why do you think you must rebuild your website? Please let me know so I can clear up any confusion.

Again, I'm very sorry for the inconveniences.

Thanks again.
