EverWeb 2.5 Beta: 64Bit, New Widgets, Better Preview and more...

User: Paul-RAGESW 6 years ago
We've been working really hard on the next version of EverWeb and are very happy to announce the latest 2.5 beta version.

Beta versions means that we are feature complete but it has not been fully tested so we recommend using EverWeb's backup feature before using this latest version.

The major features introduced in version 2.5 are 64bit and an enhanced preview feature.

Download EverWeb 2.5 Beta (Mac OS X 10.9+)
Download EverWeb 2.5 Beta (Mac OS X 10.6 - 10.8)

CHANGES

[NEW] EverWeb is now 64bit which means it can handle even larger websites and should perform faster in almost all aspects. Apple is moving to 64bit only software in future releases of macOS.

[NEW] Enhanced preview provides an exact local preview of what you will expect when you publish your website. We will be improving this in the future to make preview faster. Widgets that had issues previewing within EverWeb, will also preview properly now.

[NEW] RSS caching makes RSS feeds work faster and more reliably. This should work with all web hosting platforms but we guarantee that it works 100% with EverWeb + Hosting

[NEW] Facebook timeline widget

[NEW] Live Photos widget lets you add Live Photos from you iPhone to your website

[NEW] Rename menu in File menu lets you rename your website, blog posts, pages, and assets

[NEW] URL field for publishing to a folder

[FIX] Character spacing field in the inspector now works properly

[FIX] Opacity settings and animation settings work properly when used together on a shape

[FIX] Fixed a crash that could happen when working on multiple projects

Paul -

1) Spell correction is not working. I can select it from the EDIT menu and it'll find the first spell error but selecting LEARN or REPLACE does nothing. I can't skip by selecting NEXT either.
2) Uploading a change to the site required setting required setting PUBLISHING - "Use Passive Publishing Connections"

Seems a bit faster and for that site, it's saying something :-)

Hi Courtney

I've checked this and it looks as if you're spot on! The spelling checking is not working at the moment

Hi Paul, I appreciate that the software is updated. Unfortunately the new version is very, very slow. Hope you can fix it.

Any ideas on time frame or more to the point is it likely to be in time for High Sierra.

Ralf -
I'm running two sites with EW and both hosted by them. One may be (maybe) the biggest they got - 900 mb and over 3,500 pictures. Yeah, it's a bit slow updating but the new version is marginally faster. That's an improvement.
The other site is only four pages and a minimalist design and it's almost instantaneous no matter what I do in EW.

Where is it slow for you?

Cheers,
Courtney

Hi Ralf,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues, can you elaborate a bit more on what exactly is slow? I don't have any issues with the performance of this new version?

EverWeb will be 100% compatible before High Sierra is released.

A new beta version is available. It fixes an issue with FTP publishing when not using FTP over SSL/TLS to publish.
