Moving a website development project to my laptop

User: Chris F. 6 years ago
Hi

I am a very new user! I have successfully built a website on my desktop machine and I would now like to continue development using my laptop. This gives rise to two questions.

Where do I register my licence on the (new) installation of Everweb on my laptop, and what do I need to bring over to make my existing development visible - all that I can do on my laptop is to start a new website

Thanks for any guidance

Hi, Chris!

We hope you enjoyed using EverWeb!

Any site you create in EverWeb stored on your computer as .everweb file. You can see it if you go to Projects Window. It's the very first window you see when you launch EverWeb and you can also get to it if you go to File > Projects Window.

Locate your site and click on two little arrows next to it, select Show On Disk. A new Finder window will be opened with one file highlighted. This file is the representation of your site and to bring the site to another computer, you simply need to move this file to that computer. Once the file is on your second devices, you just need to double-click on it to open it (given you already have EverWeb installed) or drag and drop that file onto the Projects Window to add it there on the new computer.

If you want to work on your site from two computers you might be interested in sharing the file using Dropbox. We have a video tutorial showing how you can do that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0GD6cJYG_Q

In EverWeb we don't have license keys. All you need to do is to download it from our official website and log in to your account in EverWeb in Preferences.

Hope that helps!

Wayne
