Viewing Image Gallery on iPhone 6

Image Gallery on iPhone 6

User: Paul W. 6 years ago
Hi,
I have a website for a photographer where I have a mobile version. I have been using the image gallery but cannot find any settings which make it really useable for an iphone.
The gallery displays an enlargement button in the top right hand corner of each image but using this or tapping on the image creates an unusable display.
Is there a setting or something I am missing?
Thanks

Image galleries are not really suited to mobile phones unless they are specifically design for that purpose. Here's an example.

A far better option for displaying images on these devices is a lazy loading swipe slideshow. The image doesn't have to download until the vistor actually swipes to it so page download time is a lot faster - and cheaper for the visitor!

Images for mobile phones should be cropped square or with a negative aspect ratio (3:4) for portrait orientation. For landscape, test the slider on all the different sizes of iPhone using the iOS Simulator to make sure they fit the viewport.

See THIS PAGE for info about creating a responsive mobile website which will perform well on all sizes of phone and any orientation.

Widgets re available for creating mobile elements and containers.

Roddy, thanks for your suggestions. I really like the lazy swipe idea. It does crop a bit of the image when I go to landscape view however. might just be the examples you have on your web site.
Probably for the particular site I am building the "mobile image grid gallery" would replace what I have already built and seems to work perfectly. At least your examples display nicely on my phone.
Thanks

That's what I mean about creating the images at an aspect ratio which is suitable for one orientation or the other.

If you the lightbox slider you can also launch it from a single image.
