Cloudfare's Always Online ... weird pop-up

User: Ben L. 6 years ago
Working on a particular site (www.bengedlow.com) I've been getting these strange pop-ups from Cloudfare's Always Online (Error 502, Bad gateway). Asking my server host (HostPapa.com) about it, they think it might possibly have something to do with EverWeb ... as nothing on their end is out of order or unusual.

I've seen this pop-up half a dozen times. I usually just switch to another Browser, but now it's shown up on my different Browsers (Safari, Firefox, Google Chrome).

Perhaps it's something you want to take a look at? See attachment...

If you do figure it out, I'd be very curious to know what it is. It makes me very nervous as I'm building EverWeb websites all the time.

All the best,

Ben

HI Ben,

No this has nothing to do with EverWeb. It would either be your web hosting provider, which already told you its not them or something you have installed on your computer.

See if you have a Safari Extension installed in Safari->Preferences->Extensions.

I was wondering if it was something that crept into my system vis a vis cookies or whatever. There are no Extensions in SAFARI. My DNS is set right in HostPapa ...

I'll just have to see if it appears again. I wonder if there is some short tutorial out there for flushing out weird stuff that has slipped into my system? I'm pretty careful. Never click anything I'm not 100% sure of.

Thank you Paul ... I check EverWeb off the list of trying to figure out what it is.

Much appreciated, Ben

HI Ben,

I am just thinking, you may also want to see if you have set any proxy service up in your System Preferences.

Also if the error appears try a different browser.

I would assume that this is a hosting related issue though if you hadn't already contacted your web host because they could be using CloudFlare on their end. I'm not sure if you want to confirm once again that they don't use CloudFlare at all.
