publishing speed

It seems that it takes very long to publish my web-site for the first time to my EverWeb location. Based on the size of my backup my website size is in the order of 300 MB. It took me more than half a day and in the end the publishing process just stopped. I am currently trying to publish again and I have the same frustration. Among the data I am uploading is a 55 MB pdf file. What publishing speed could I expect. Is there anything I am doing not right in terms of web-design or file sizes (albums, data files). Please advice.publishing speed

Jan -

I publish a 650 mb website. Updates are 5 minutes and full re-publish can be 40 minutes. Please note this is using Everweb's hosting service. Who are you publishing to? If someone else, what are you using to do the upload? (FTB?)

Courtney,

Thank you for your encouragement. I have now published my website to EverWeb which has taken some 330 MB of space. Speed is not a problem anymore. I have redesigned my website using smaller picture and pdf files. I have been consulting with EverWeb over the last couple of days as I had some configuration and security problems. I had to toggle some settings in my publishing preferences. There are still other issues on which I need to consult with EverWeb. Thank you for your patience.

Good news Jan.
Like everything, some fine tuning is always needed. Picture and PDF size is important - not only for upload speed but for the viewer's speed to open a page. Keep 'em small when you can :-)
