Viewing Widget Management

Widget Management

User: Roddy 6 years ago
Quite a few EverWeb users who have several hundred widgets installed have requested a method of widget management. There are over 600 widgets available in the EverWeb Codebox site and over 200 new ones in the EverWeb Widgets site - with a lot more to come!

Although I have over 1000 widgets, I don’t actually use them once I have set up the demo page but I can appreciate the problem of finding individual widgets for those that do.

The first thing to do would be uninstall all the ones that aren’t in use in any of the projects.

Those who want to start afresh creating full width amd responsive sites with the new widgets can open another user account and install EverWeb and the new widgets in it. This will keep them separate from the old client sites - and the widgets that they need - which only need occasional updating.

I used to have three user accounts for web design projects when I was maintaining and designing client sites and doing front end coding. If fast user switching is set up, jumping from one to the other only takes a few seconds and it keeps the web design aspect of ours lives separate from all the other things we do on our Macs.

The new widgets in the EverWeb Widgets site are a lot easier to find. They have the category name first in the widgets name. For example, the widgets for creating tables, columns and charts all have their names prefixed with the word “Data” so that they will arrange themselves in a group in the Widget panel of EverWeb.
