Rather belatedly, quite a few web designers are beginning to see the advantages of using HTML5 containers instead of divs from the point of view of search engine optimisation. I was recently asked if I could extend the functions of the Details element to be able to style the indicators and change them to other than the default browser generated triangle. The details element creates an interactive item which can be set up similar to an accordion but doesn’t require java script which makes it more suitable for mobile sites. There are a couple of widgets which have been around for a while for creating details to show text or a list. These use the browser generated triangle indicators.
