Directories (submenus) within multilingual sites.

The video training course recommends building multilingual sites by putting the secondary language sites in directories and use ”hand- made” links instead of the navigation menu widget. I have a menu with submenus (in a directory) in my main language, and want to have that submenu in the secondary languages as well. How can i do this?

Hi Jon, It is not easily done with the built in navigation bar. You might be able to find a widget to do what you want from EverWeb Codebox. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Hi Jon, did you find anything at Everweb Codebox? I have already bought some widgets there which I found helpful (e.g. the list widget and the dropdown menu widget for the mobile version). Now I am struggling with the same/similar problem: How can I create a dropdown navigation in a multilingual version, if I cannot use the standard everweb navigation bar widget. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Doro

The easiest way is to create a navigation with drop downs suitable for use on computer and mobile is to use the widgets shown on THIS page.

Hi Roddy, thanks a lot, once again. I have now created the entire navigation manually and used your "click drop navigation widget" for the computer version for those parts that need a drop-down (for both languages - because I want the version to look identical). And I will look for some kind of vertical two-level navigation widget for the mobile version. Your widgets have been very helpful!

You can use the same widgets to create a vertical navigation. Just stack them vertically and then bring them to the front using the Arrange menu starting at the bottom and working up to the top. See THIS page for more info. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Hi Roddy, I have tried to implement your advice. But I am struggling. Say, I have a navigation where some items are single-level, some are two or three levels, e.g.: Home Company -> a) history, b) people, c) locations Products - >a) new, b) used Contact Shop So, here I have 3 single level items, and two drop-downs. Do I have to create simple text boxes with hyperlinks for the single level items (i.e. for Home, Contact, Shop) and two drop down navigations for Company (sub-levels: history, people and locations) and Products (sub-levels: new and used)? Is this the only way to do it? It's very challenging to make it look 'seamless' if created manually. Thanks a lot for your support. |

Using the widgets shown on THIS page, you create tabs for the single level pages and the drop downs and then stack the vertically. The Touch Drop Navigation Link widget creates the single level items and the Touch Drop Navigation widget creates the drop downs for the directories. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Hi Roddy, thanks a lot for your inputs. I have followed your instructions successfully! the only struggle was aligning the text in the two different widgets because it seems that the 'default alignment' of text in the two widgets is different. But I managed to create a decent navigation based on a combination of the two widgets. Thanks!

A newer version of these widgets will be available soon on the EverWeb Widgets website. The single link version allows the text to be aligned left when the widgets are stacked vertically. Contact me if you would like to try them out. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
