Viewing Hero Widgets

Hero Widgets

The Hero banner has proved to be a very effective tool for grabbing attention and encouraging click through to other pages of the site. I notice quite a few EverWeb users are trying to emulate this feature with varied results.

To be effective, the banner needs a little more consideration than just sticking some text onto a full width image. It also needs to be responsive down to about 780px so that it will display correctly when the page is viewed on a tablet device like an iPad in portrait mode.

The Hero widgets have been designed to extend the concept to other items which can be stacked vertically to create a “full width” look which will still function correctly on tablet devices. See the Hero Demo page for an example of this.

I've added a few more widgets in the Hero range for ..

Modules
Heading
Ken Burns Slider
Image Scroller

I'll be releasing these fairly soon so I would appreciate any comments and suggestions for improvements.

The HERO 2 widget pack has been updated with a new widget for creating a Pager Slider with optional transparent overlay and a control section which doesn't overlay the image as request by several users.
